High Speed Chase Ends in Arrest

As a car accident lawyer in Oakland, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: high speed chases almost always do not end well for the person being pursued. The police have too many tools at their disposal, and the odds are stacked against anyone attempting to flee.

In the very early hours of the morning, the cops engaged a man in a high speed chase in Lake County, California. As a result, the victim crashed, after which he was apprehended.

It all started when officers responded to a report of a home invasion around 2 am. The victim of the robbery did not see the vehicle that the suspects had fled in. However, one of the responding deputies noticed a vehicle moving too fast down nearby Lakeshore Boulevard. The officer lost site of the vehicle, and a search was commenced.

Officer then relocated the vehicle, a Chevy Impala, and they began their pursuit. The Impala increased its speed to 60 mph in a 45 mph zone and as the police turned on their emergency lights, the offending vehicle drove up to speeds of 80 mph and ran a stop sign.

Turning off all its lights, the car got up to 90 mph and entered the opposite lane of traffic through a left turn. At this point, the driver lost control and careened off the right side of the street, up an embankment, and rolled end over end. The driver of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly thereafter. He was booked at Lake County Jail for a variety of offenses, including driving while under the influence, and is being held without bail due to his alleged parole violation.

The roads can often be a dangerous place, and this is even more true when a suspect leads police on a chase, putting innocent lives at risk. As an Oakland car accident attorney, I am thankful this chase occurred in the middle of the night, so that innocent passersby weren’t placed in unnecessary harm.
